"I get meaner as I get older", redux:
There are people who genuinely cannot remember Chinese names such as Zhi Jing (hypothetical example). The consonants confuse them. The vowels do not linger in their minds. Fair enough.
But my name does not necessarily sound like a Chinese name. If you can't remember my name and use the "oh I don't remember Chinese names" as an excuse, I think it's perfectly fair to think that you will not be able to remember English names such as Laurelianna or Elisabet, either. You will probably try your best to giggle your way through awkward moments and insist on calling these unfortunate people Laurel or Elizabeth every time you meet them. So don't lie to me about not remembering Chinese names. It's only because you're unwilling to make an effort. Face it.
